Sensitivity Unit
The Craigslea Sensitivity Unit was established in 1983.
The Sensitivity Unit offers a variety of educational programs to provide children and adults with a greater awareness of the needs and challenges faced by people with disabilities.
These hands on workshops vary between two to three hours depending upon the program selected. A sample of activities include:
A walkway to simulate the sensation of walking with low muscle control.
A tunnel which demonstrates how you must use different senses to find your way when you cannot see. Wheelchair activities demonstrate the barriers around the community.
A task to show learning difficulty.
Plus many more challenges and talks covering a wide variety of topics.
A visit to the Unit is essential for students and sits within the curriculum. A small fee applies.
Training organisations, community groups, companies and government agencies can all benefit by offering this affordable program to all adults. Great for team building.
