Interschool Sport: Gala Days

In Term 2 (rugby league, netball, soccer, basketball) and Term 4 (cricket, small sided soccer, beach volleyball, touch football) students in Years 5 - 6 participate in the Interschool Sport Gala Days. These are generally half day competitions running over four weeks. The range and number of sports and teams is dependent on the coaching skills of teachers within the school. For students who do not attend Gala Days  there is a school based program available,  teachers who are not taking a Gala Day sports team are allocated to coordinate and supervise these activities.

Representative Sport

All schools can send students to district trials, and from there selected students go on to regional trials. Then they may be chosen to represent the region at state championships.

Craigslea is part of the Metropolitan North district, along with 14 other primary schools. The district forms representative teams for a variety of sports and holds carnivals for athletics, cross-country running and swimming throughout the year. To join a district sports team, students must attend a trial and meet set criteria. Further information about representative sport is distributed throughout the year to identified students.

Running Club

Running Club is run by the Craigslea State School P.E. teacher. Running Club takes place on the school oval on Tuesday and Thursday morning 8:15-8:35am. Families are welcome to join in and support their students to reach their running goals.

Swim Club

The Craigslea Aquatics Club is a sub-committee of the Craigslea State School P&C Association. Membership involves a fee and entitles participants to attend Friday Club Nights, carnivals and competitions with nearby clubs and Club Championships at the end of the season. For further details please contact the P&C Association (operations@craigsleapandc.org.au).

Volleyball Program

Volleyball is an important part of the  after school sports program. The school is extremely competitive at interschool competitions and participates in the Volleyball Queensland Primary Schools Cup held annually at Craigslea State High School.
