Welcome to Craigslea State School. Prep is the first year of school and provides the foundation for your child's education. It is compulsory for Queensland children to undertake Prep prior to Year 1. Prep is a full-time program in primary schools and the Australian curriculum.
To enrol in Prep, children must be aged five by 30 June in the year of proposed attendance.

Enrolment process
If you are unsure of your eligibility for catchment area enrolment, please refer to the MAP.
IN CATCHMENT
In catchment enrolments are now open. Please submit the following documentation which allows us to verify that you do reside within catchment:
- Application of Student Enrolment Form
- An original birth certificate or passport
- Evidence of any medical conditions of which the school needs to be aware
- Details of any specialist care given, e.g. speech therapy, paediatrician
- Proof of residency/citizenship status and visa (if from overseas)
- One primary source - a current lease agreement, or rates notice, or unconditional sale agreement
- One secondary source - a utility bill (eg. electricity, gas) showing this same address and parent's/legal guardian's name
- Families will be in contacted in Term 2 to arrange an enrolment interview
OUT OF CATCHMENT
2024
If you are out of catchment and wish to be considered for 2024 enrolment, applications open 8am on the 1st March 2023. Please complete this form: 2024 Out of Catchment Expression of Interest Form
If and when we are able to offer a place, the school will contact you with the enrolment requirements.
2025
If you are out of catchment and wish to be considered for 2025 enrolment, applications open 8am on the 1st March 2024. Please complete this form: 2025 Out of Catchment Expression of Interest Form
2025 Prep “out of catchment" enrolments will be offered at the start of Term 3, 2024. If we are able to offer a place, the school will contact you with the enrolment requirements.
Prep Open Days
Our Prep Information Sessions provide new and prospective parents the opportunity to learn about what Craigslea State School represents. This takes place in Term 2 each year. In addition to this, our prep teaching team opens its doors to Early Childhood Centres that may wish to visit. There will be 2 sessions available:
- 8 May 2024 9:30am – 11:00am: meet at the Craigslea State School Hall, including school tour
- 15 May 2024 9:30am – 11:00am: meet at the Craigslea State School Hall, including school tour
Any family is welcome to join our information session provided you have registered your email details with us 2 days before the session.
Prep Experience
After enrolment interviews, you and your child will be invited to attend a Prep Experience. This allows your child to have an authentic Craigslea school experience where they will spend about one hour engaging in some exploratory learning in a Prep classroom. During this time, we will give parents a guided tour and answer further questions you may have. You will receive an invitation to attend a Prep Experience via email.
Meet the Teacher
In Term 4, you will receive
an invitation via email to come and meet your Prep teacher. Again, your child
will go to their classroom where they will spend approximately 1.5hours with
their teacher and future classmates.
