Welcome to Our P&C

The Craigslea State School Parents and Citizens' (P&C) Association is a group of dedicated volunteer parents and carers who work in partnership with the school to support positive outcomes for all students.

Our vision is simple:
We are volunteer parents and carers dedicated to making our children and the entire school community feel proud, included, and excited to come to school. Through strong partnerships with the school and the wider community, we bring this vision to life.

President's Message

Welcome to our school community and to the Craigslea State School P&C.

Our P&C is made up of passionate and committed volunteers who work together to support our students, families and staff. Whether through providing essential services, supporting school events, or delivering major improvement projects, our focus is always on creating the best possible environment for our children.

We encourage all parents and carers to get involved in a way that works for you. Every contribution—big or small—makes a meaningful difference.

We look forward to welcoming you.

What is a P&C?

Parents and Citizens' Associations (P&Cs) are established under the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 and operate in accordance with a Model Constitution.

The key objectives of a P&C are to:

  • Support the wellbeing and engagement of all students
  • Strengthen the connection between families, the school and the wider community
  • Provide feedback and contribute to school decision-making
  • Assist in providing resources, services and facilities that benefit students
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive and supportive school environment

P&Cs are an important part of Queensland state schools, ensuring families have a voice and an active role in their child's education.

What We Do

Our P&C plays a vital role in supporting both students and families through a wide range of services and initiatives:

  • Tuckshop – Provides fresh, affordable food options for students while supporting healthy eating habits and raising funds for the school.
  • Uniform Shop & Second-Hand Uniforms – Offers convenient access to new and quality pre-loved uniforms, helping families save on costs.
  • Bookshop – Supplies essential learning resources to streamline back-to-school preparation for families.
  • Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) – Provides a safe, engaging and supportive environment for children before and after school, and during holidays.
  • Fundraising Activities – Organises events and initiatives that raise funds to enhance school facilities, resources and opportunities.
  • School Event Support – Assists with school events, celebrations and community activities to build a strong and connected school culture.

Meetings

The P&C meets regularly during the school term:

  • Time: 7:00 pm
  • Weeks: Week 3 and Week 8 of each term
  • Location: OSHC Building and online

All parents and carers are warmly encouraged to attend.

Meeting details, agendas and minutes are shared via SchoolZine, helping families stay informed and involved.

Subcommittees

Our subcommittees allow members to contribute to specific areas of interest and help deliver targeted initiatives:

  • Sustainability Committee – Promotes environmentally responsible practices and initiatives within the school.
  • Swim Club – Encourages participation in swimming while building skills, confidence and community spirit.
  • Coffee Cart – Provides a welcoming space for connection while supporting fundraising efforts.

Volunteer Opportunities

The P&C is strongest when our community is actively involved.

Volunteers play an essential role in helping us deliver services, run events and support initiatives across the school. Whether you can contribute regularly or just occasionally, your time and skills are highly valued.

Volunteering offers many benefits:

  • Connect with other families and build relationships
  • Gain insight into school life and activities
  • Contribute directly to your child's school experience
  • Develop new skills and give back to your community

There are always opportunities to get involved, and current volunteer needs are regularly shared in the P&C section of the fortnightly newsletter.

Governance

The P&C operates in line with its Constitution and relevant legislation. It is governed by:

  • An elected Executive Committee
  • Financial and operational procedures aligned with Department of Education requirements
  • Transparent reporting to members and the school community

The P&C may also employ staff to operate its services (such as Tuckshop, OSHC and Uniform Shop), ensuring professional and consistent delivery.
