The range and number of sports and teams is dependent on student preferences. For students who do not attend Gala Days there is a school based program available, teachers who are not taking a Gala Day sports team are allocated to coordinate and supervise these activities.
Representative Sport
The representative school sport pathway is designed to provide students with opportunities to participate, develop their skills, and be identified for higher-level competition through a fair and transparent selection process.
Craigslea State School is part of the Central District, which includes over 30 schools. The district forms representative teams across a variety of sports and conducts carnivals for athletics, cross-country running, and swimming throughout the year. Selection for district teams requires students to attend trials and meet the specified selection criteria. Further information regarding representative sport opportunities is shared with identified students throughout the year and can be found on the Metropolitan North and Central District web pages.
All schools may nominate students to attend district trials (Central District). From these trials, selected students may progress to regional trials (Met North). Successful students may then be chosen to represent the region at a state championship or carnival (Queensland) and, in some sports, progress further to national championships or carnivals representing the state.
Running Club
Running Club takes place on the school oval throughout the year. Families are welcome to join and support students as they work towards their running goals. Session times will be communicated to students and parents prior to sessions commencing.
Swim Club
The Craigslea Aquatics Club is a sub-committee of the Craigslea State School P&C Association. Membership involves a fee and entitles participants to attend Friday Club Nights, carnivals and competitions with nearby clubs and Club Championships at the end of the season. For further details please contact the P&C Association (operations@craigsleapandc.org.au).
