50.9 KG SAVED FROM LANDFILL!
What an incredible way to finish our Year 4 sustainability learning!
Thanks to the amazing support of our Craigslea families, Year 4 collected a whopping 50.9 kg of unwanted and broken toys for BIG W’s Toys for Joy program.
Students helped sort the toys, separating those that could be donated to The Salvation Army from those that could be recycled. Recycled toy materials can be transformed into new products, including building materials and asphalt and recycled toy plastic has even been used in previous initiatives to help create playground equipment!
With around 27 million toys thrown away in Australia each year, our students have shown that small choices really can make a BIG impact.
A special congratulations to Ashton W from 4D, our top Toys for Joy contributor, and a huge thank you to all of our Craigslea families for getting behind this project!

We are very proud of Year 4s effort!
